AN ARTFUL CONVERSATION

DEAR ARTIST…

DO YOU WANT A RELAXED HANG OUT WITH A LIKE MINDED COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS?

DO YOU WANT intimate CONVERSATION THAT’S FOCUSSED ON YOU AND YOUR ART?

DO YOU WANT TO GET INTO THE NITTY GRITTY OF WHAT BEING AN ARTIST LOOKS LIKE? MAYBE EVEN GET A LITTLE ‘ART WANKY’ WITHOUT FEELING JUDGED?

LET’S GET ART WANKY TOGETHER….

Join Bec Griffiths, Emma Collins & Laura Aziz on May 28th for an artful conversation. We’ll discuss creative process, how to prioritise your practice, and what it looks like being an artist in a world that feels brutiful.

In this honest, fun and vulnerable discussion Bec, Emma & Laura will discuss:

  • creating and prioritising an art practice in a world that constantly demands our attention (away from art)

  • learning to live with imposter syndrome

  • what defines artistic success (hint: there is no single answer)

  • why being ‘selfish’ is an act of service

This will be a relaxed and intimate conversation -
    places are limited

“One of the main challenges I have faced as a woman artist is the conflict I feel about caring for someone, loving someone, yet remaining dedicated to my art in an undivided way. I think that men generally find it easier to be selfish.”

Celia Paul

Ths is your permission slip to:

  • Prioritise yourself and your ART.

  • Remember that art is not a luxury - it’s a LIFELINE

  • Be in COMMUNITY with other artists without feeling selfish - and have some fun!

  • Ask ALL the questions you have about creative process, refining your art practice and how to keep going when art feels like it constantly falls to the bottom of your to do list

  • Learn how other practicing artists navigate the multiple demands on their time

  • Fall in love with creating again - and remind yourself that no one has it all figured out

She is passionate about spreading this message, raising the profile of the genre and teaching photographers how to elevate their images to create art from everyday chaos. In 2020 she co-founded the learning platform Made For Documentary.

Emma lives in the UK and her personal art work focusses on the metamorphosis of female identity in midlife and its bittersweet reality, encompassing themes of empty nest, ageing and invisibility.

  • BEC GRIFFITHS

    PHOTOGRAPHER & EDUCATOR
    becgriffithsphotography.com
    nakedmarketingschool.com

For many years Bec led a double life - by day a successful marketing professional and by night (or let’s be real on some nights when she wasn’t completely depleted by her day job and managing two kids, a dog, 5 chickens* and heavy imposter syndrome) an artist exploring what it means to live in an era where we were told we could ‘have it all’ - but not at what cost.

In 2020 she melded her two selves and began dedicating more time to her art as well as co-founding Naked Marketing School - a global education community that helps artists build successful art-based businesses without losing their integrity in the process.

Bec’s work has been recognised in a number of awards including as a winner in the 2021 Australian Photography Awards and as a finalist in the prestigious Bowness Prize in both 2021 and 2023. She lives in Melbourne, Australia and is excited to be visiting the UK in 2024.

“I’d say art is with you. All around you. I’d say when there doesn’t seem to be  anyone else, there is art. I’d say you can love art how you wish to be loved. And I’d say art is a lifeline to the rest of us - we are out here. You are not alone. There is nothing about you that scares us. There is nothing unlovable about you either.”
